"Party Boy" Menswear Trend Board 2022
A surprising effect of almost two years in lockdown, glitz and glamour is an emerging trend in both Women's and Men's fashion. Mainstream culture continues to loosen expectations on gender presentation, making it acceptable for men to wear traditionally feminine outfit details like sequins, florals, feathers, heavy jewelry, and even makeup. Men are seizing the opportunity for bold expression so sparkle will gain popularity in men's daywear, nightwear, and accessories. Colors associated with this trend are deep jewel tones and metallics, especially silver. Materials will include luxurious satin, colored furs, feather detail and of course crystal, sequin or glitter embellishment.
Work From Home Lifestyle Trend Board Summer 2020
Stay at home mandates following the Coronavirus-19 pandemic have resulted in millions of people around the world having to work from home. As we all adjust to this new lifestyle, fashion choices for professionals are one of the first things to change. The trend that emerges will be a blend of professionalism and comfort, designed to be seen on Zoom meetings and to feel work ready while also featuring relaxed fits and fabrics for staying in the comfort of home. Even when offices begin to open, I predict the trend of a more relaxed work style will remain in everyone’s work wardrobes.
Key features of this trend are light neutrals and earthy hues, knit construction, simplicity and relaxed tailoring.
Cottagecore Lifestyle Trend Board Summer 2020
While “Cottagecore” “Grandmacore” and “Farmcore” have existed for a few years now, the social media platform TikTok is to thank for a recent blossoming of this aesthetic into more mainstream culture. This nostalgic genre which glorifies simple living and a return to nature seems absolutely fitting for the current state of our world: burnout resulting from stressful jobs, instability due to Coronavirus, frustrating political corruption, impending natural disasters and the ominous shadow of climate change weigh heavy on all our minds. Cottagecore not only provides pretty scenes of flower tea and home baked pies on a picnic blanket, it provides a calm fantasy-like refuge for the ever anxious Gen-Z. Feminine Victorian inspired style already emerged onto the fashion scene three or four years ago, where ruffles and ditsy floral prints are a common find at retailers of all price points. What will continue to grow is the lifestyle aspects of Cottagecore–the bread and pie baking, escaping into nature and solitude, disconnecting from technology, searching for natural beauty, and slowing down to enjoy humble daily tasks and simple pleasures.
